INFORMATION ON ST GABRIEL'S
Who We Are
Established in 1966, St Gabriel's Credit Union Ltd. is an industrial credit union serving the employees of An Post,
eircom and other communications companies and their families in the
Munster region. For a full list of compapanies covered by our common bond
click here. Currently St Gabriel's has just
under 2,600 members with assets of over €26 million.
Our Philosophy
St Gabriel's is a financial co-operative
owned and controlled by the members, for the benefit of the members. We
encourage our members to save together so that we can lend to each other
at a reasonable rate of interest.
We are a democratic organisation
with the members electing the board of directors, the supervisory committee and
auditors at our AGM.
St Gabriel's is a member
of the Irish League of Credit Unions, a representative organisation whose purpose is
to strengthen and grow the credit union movement in Ireland.

Our History
| 1965 |
Industrial dispute in the Department of Post and Telegraphs
leads to the setting up of St Gabriel's |
| 1966 |
St Gabriel's set up as a study group. |
| 1969 |
St Gabriel's registered as a Credit Union. |
| 1983 |
St Gabriel's computerised by renting spare capacity from
Ballyphehane Credit Union. |
| 1984 |
An Post and Telecom Eireann set up from Department of Post
and Telegraphs. |
| 1989 |
St Gabriel's moves premises to Quaker Road. |
| 1994 |
First permanent staff member appointed. |
| 2000 |
St Gabriel's moves to our new premises in St Patrick's Quay. |

From humble beginnings St Gabriel's Credit Union has grown a to a mature and
strong organisation with our members interests central you all our activities.
St Gabriel's intends to continue to grow and to offer our members new and
improved services where possible. If you have any ideas on how we can achieve

Who can join St
Gabriel's?
By law, in order to join any credit union,
you must be part of the common bond of that credit union.
The common bond of St Gabriel's covers employees the following list of companies
living or working in the provence of Munster.

We also welcome
family members once they reside at the address of an existing member.
To become a member of a credit union you must be 16 years of age. However St
Gabriel's offer juvenile membership for anyone under 16. For new members under
the age of twelve St Gabriel's is delighted to start the account off with €20. (A
birth cert will be required on opening the account.)
How do I join
St Gabriel's?
Print off the online Membership
Application Form. Fill in the details in block capitals, sign the form and
forward the completed application form to our office.
Note: This application form must be accompanied
with evidence of identification e.g. a copy of a current passport, driving
licence, work id card (with photo) or similar proof and evidence of current
address e.g. a copy of a household bill, a bank/building society statement or
similar proof of address.
